Her namesake comes from none other than the famous Mexican-American singer, Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Selena’s father is from Mexico, and her mother, a former stage actress, is of Italian descent. Selena claims that she became interested in acting while watching her mother perform. Selena is an only child; her parents split up when she was a mere five-years-old.

Disney soon caught wind of this blossoming beauty with the outstanding talent, and in 2004, she landed roles inThe Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Hannah Montana. The Musical Styles of Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez is not only a talented actress who has appeared in several films and Disney Channel programs, but she is also a remarkable singer with outstanding vocal abilities.
Starting her career on Barney & Friends, Selena had a lot of practice belting out the tunes along with her co-stars and the big purple host. She also performed several songs in the films and television programs in which she starred.
Selena has been signed to Hollywood Records (also Miley Cyrus’ label) and is rumoured to be working on her debut studio album which is set to be released in August of 2009. Claiming that the album has a pop-rock-techno flavour, Selena is hoping that the lyrics she has selected, which deal mostly with life, heartache and friendships, will help her fans to get to know her better. She has also contributed lyrics to a track entitled Beautifully Disturbed, which will supposedly appear on the upcoming album.

Musical Projects
